Bedroom Installation Part 1 - Reading Nook

The winner is....
Overstock

I decided on this chair from Overstock.  I am really really happy with my decision.  The chair is the perfect scale for the space. I love the piping and the fabric has a lot of texture being a nubby oatmeal.  It leans on the modern side which I like. It is very comfortable and the price was comfortable too.  The chair was originally 200 bucks.  I ordered it when it was 20 % off and then went online to look for coupon codes.  I found a coupon code for free shipping and 15% off total order!  I purchased the chair for a little over 100 bucks!!! Makes me love it even more.
Here it is in our bedroom...

We already had the lamp and the table was a World Market score on Black Friday.

I added the faux fur pillow for Fall/Winter but look forward to adding a pop of color in the Spring.
I will share Installation Part 2 when I add some photos on the wall and accessories.  A little green plant and jewelry dish is the plan for the side table.
I have been starring at this corner for 4 years in our bedroom.  It is so nice to cross a project off the list. We are diligently trying to get projects done before the babe comes.  I have a feeling when Collin arrives, I might not be too interested in projects ;)

Bedroom Chair

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We sure did.  We traveled to California for Thanksgiving. It is always nice to visit family, but it is always nice to come home.
The above picture is a shot of our bedroom.  Before Thanksgiving I ordered a chair off of Overstock to add to an empty corner in the bedroom. The corner has been a source of frustration for me because I wasn't sure what to fill the space with.  We already have enough storage i.e. dressers.  I knew I wanted a chair, but size and scale were important.  I also needed another source of light and a side table.  After much debate, I decided on a chair and side table.  These chairs were all contenders.

We are on a tight budget saving for the adoption so all the chairs were a great buy! I will break down the budgeting and share pictures tomorrow.
Which chair is your favorite?

The December/January Issue of House Beautiful is out.  If these images aren't enough motivation to go pick up the magazine, I don't know what is?!  Now back to studying these rooms ladies.

School House Electric

School House Electric is one of the coolest lighting stores I have ever come across.  They specialize in the reproduction of vintage light fixtures and hardware.  To my delight, they just came out with a home line! I got the new catalogue yesterday and found myself drooling at all the images.  They did a fantastic job with textiles and furniture!

Total drool fest! I love the the mix of vintage and modern.  They hit the nail on the head! You can see the virtual catalogue here.  Sorry for the half page photos.  I got them straight from the site.

What's Up On the Home Front

I interrupt design posts with a bit of exciting news.  Matt & I are adopting!  We started the process a few months ago, but enjoyed keeping it to ourselves for a bit.  It was nice to have the time for it to sink in before we started sharing the news.  We are adopting a little boy from Ethiopia.  He will be between 2 and 9 months old.  We are traveling to Ethiopia not once, but twice this coming year!  It has been our prayer for the last 3 years to grow our family, but it wasn't in the cards for us.  God obviously had other plans because as soon as we decided to adopt, all the pain, hurt, and stress of trying for so many years disappeared!  Matt and I have never been more happy!

We look forward to filling these boots with cute little feet! If you would like to stay informed on our journey, I added a link on the right hand colum.

Botanical Print DIY

Design Sponge

It's no secret, I like house plants.  I almost have them in every room of my house.  Well, now it's time to add some foliage to the wall.  I was inspired by these images of over scale botanical prints.  I love large art.  I think it is stately.  I have a spot in my living room above my side chair that needs a large piece of art to complete the vignette of the space.  I tend to stick with original art, but I am stepping out of my boundaries and going with a print.  We will see.

Habitually Chic - Thomas O'Brien Design

Since I am on a budget (ugly word) I stayed away from the large scale pre- framed prints at stores like Z Gallery, Aaron Brothers, ect.  I found the above pumpkin print here.  Trust me friends, I did my homework and they are by far the cheapest for botanical prints. I love the large green leaves in the print. I purchased a  24 by 36 inch print.  I picked up an Ikea Ribba frame in dark wood and viola! The print was 13.99 and the frame was 24.  I think that is pretty good for large scale art!  I will share pictures as soon as the print arrives.

Ikea Rug DIY

I have a complete obsession with pillows.  It's like most women with shoes, I just can't have enough.  So when I ran across this DIY, I had to share it with you!  You probably all have seen one of the Ikea woven rugs?  They are really inexpensive putting you back only 4 bucks!   I never would have thought about picking one up to make a fun shaggy pillow cover, would you?

Find directions here on Martha Stewart's site.

House Tour

Let's start the week off with a house tour, shall we?  I ran across this adorable home on Apartment Therapy.  They live in Washington, owning a reclaimed vintage shop.  You can tour the shop here.  I had so much fun studying this home.  I enjoyed how they have live plants in every room!  The home had an overall cozy feel with it's dark walls and natural wood pieces.  To see the whole house tour with more pictures go here.

Happy Monday!
