Where I Blog

I received a comment from a fellow blogger reguarding one of my "Meet & Greet" posts, saying she thought it was fun to see where everyone blogs.  She asked where I blog?  I thought I would share a few pictures of our upstairs loft area that we turned into a home office.  It was an empty space when we moved in.  We threw around the idea of a window seat, but there aren't many days where I have time to stop and sit with a cup of tea and stare out the window, so instead we decided to make it the hub of the house and I am thrilled with the decision because it gets a ton of use.  There are a few things I would like to change, like the hardware and lamp shade, but besides that I am happy with the results.

We chose a ebony stain for the desk top instead of white to add a bit of contrast.  I love the small dings, dents, and scratches that are showing on the wood.

I found this antique light pendant at a vintage store for 8 bucks.  With a bit of spray paint and Windex it turned out pretty well.  I like the etching in the glass.

The director chair was a recent purchase.  I love the look and never knew how comfortable they are!

Don't judge in on the fact that I have a book by Tori Spelling.  I grew up watching 90210.

Hope you enjoyed the tour of where I blog.  If any of you are interested in being featured in "Meet & Greet" I would love to here from you!

Meet & Greet: Designer's Attic

I am super excited about the blog I have the honor of featuring today!  The Designer's Attic is the first blog I go to every morning before I even get my coffee! Why the rush you ask?  Because everyday there is textile eye candy on sale and a limited amount.
Shannon, the author of The Designer's Attic has a love like I for textiles and created a blog specifically to help us non professional designers get our hands on the most loved fabrics out there for GREAT prices.  I often think of Shannon as the "fabric fairy."  She is able to provide yards of hard to find fabrics and if you are looking for something in particular just email her, and she has great advice on finding the perfect print.

This is where Shannon blogs.  Talk about beautiful textiles. I love the fabrics she has chosen in her own home. Bold, graphic and fun!  Her style in impeccable.  You can see more of her personal style and inspiration over at Pink Wallpaper.  You might already follow Pink Wallpaper.  If not, be sure to check it out.  You can find both of her blogs on my "Reading Inspiration" on the right column of My Many Moments.

I love how Shannon will show the featured fabric, then picking an image where the fabric has been used.  It gets the wheels turning.
Thanks again Shannon for letting me feature your blog(s).  I am keeping my eye out for just the right fabric for an up coming project. Pictures to come.

Meet & Greet: Ladybird & Fellow

Meet Lindsay (Ladybird) and her family.  Adorable family right?!  This is a special Meet & Greet for me because Lindsay isn't just a blogger friend, but a real life personal friend here in Portland.  We immediately jived as soon as we found out we had so much in common. We have enjoyed many trips to Goodwill together, searching for treasures, painting furniture, and rearranging furniture in each others homes.

Lindsay has a great/fun sense of style that shows up in every room of her home.  Here is where Lindsay blogs.

I love the whole set up. Such attention to detail.  Funny story about the desk.  Lindsay found it on Craigslist and asked me to spiff it up.  After a few, many coats of grey paint and some distressing, I love how it turned out. I'm glad Lindsay is happy with it too!

Lindsay and Jeremiah have two adorable little ones.  I wanted to share their rooms with you.  I love how Lindsay incorporated her style yet still making the rooms kid friendly.

Maddux's Room

Paetyn's Room

I can't believe we found this floral wing back chair at Goodwill for 25 bucks!

Lindsay also has great ideas when it comes to kid friendly projects.  I love the terrariums she put together with the kiddos.

Can't leave out the dinosaurs.  I know for a fact the kids had a blast helping mom put these together and don't they look great grouped on her coffee table?  Go check out the post about their terrariums.

To see more pictures of their adorable home and get ideas for entertaining the youngins', visit Ladybird & Fellow! Check out all the fun links on the top left of their blog!

Happy Friday,
Heather

Meet & Greet and a bit of Vignettes

For this week's Meet & Greet, I am excited to feature Sarah, with Flourish Design + Style. And does she have style! Sarah is an interior designer with a knack for bringing out her client's personality. I like to think Sarah and I have very similar style and that is why I fell in LOVE with her home. Here is where she blogs.

When I asked Sarah for a picture of where she blogs she emailed me this....

I wish I had a picture of a fabulously decorated office to show you, but the truth is, my blogging spot is my favorite spot on the sofa. Tucked into the sectional with my feet on the footstool, the girls in bed, a puppy curled up in a blanket at my feet..my blog time is my quiet time, so it's perfectly cozy :)

I couldn't have said it better myself!

I love the colors she uses in her home.  Natural yet chic. Here are some more inspiring pictures of her home.

I wanted to show off two of her DIY's that I think turned out amazing.

First one is an Ikea set of drawers.

Before

Adding some paint and beautiful gold hardware turned the ordinary dresser into a chic piece of furniture.

After

Second, Sarah did something similar to a vintage desk.

I love how she painted the fronts of the drawers a crisp white to add a touch of modern to an antique. Something so simple yet often looked over.

Last but not least Sarah is a fellow Stella & Dot stylist. I have picked her brain on more than one occasion for ideas and how to's.  Thanks Sarah for being such a help and inspiring your readers to realize the possibilities are endless.

If you are in the Toronto area and need design services check Sarah out here.
If you just want a daily does of inspiration go to Flourish Design + Style.

Thanks for letting me feature you today Sarah!

Meet & Greet - Cottage & Vine

Meet Rene, with Cottage & Vine. Here is a picture of where she blogs. Cute, right? She is one talented lady! Cottage and Vine is one of my daily read's. I find so much inspiration from Rene's DIY's and decorating talents. She is an interior designer in Greensboro, North Carolina, but also offers Internet design consults where she creates amazing mood boards for you. Here is a picture of her own fabulous home.

Doesn't her home look straight out of  Cottage Living Magazine?!

Rene also has a knack for finding great vintage finds that she has for sale in her Etsy shop. You can also see if there are any new finds in her Etsy store on her blog. Here are two items I have been drooling over from her shop.

Lion Head Book Ends

Set of Reader's Digest Books

It might sound silly, but her blog is so well laid out. I love how she has a column of "Categories," which makes it so easy to find past posts, DIY's, Before & Afters, ect.
Here is a picture of a cabinet that Rene spruced up. It is one of my favorite DIY's she has done. I love the color and the hardware!

To see the Before & After transformation of this cabinet and many other projects of Rene's go here.

If you live in N. Carolina  and  looking for someone with excellent design experience or just want a second opinion, contact Rene! Also don't forget to check out her etsy shop if you love unique vintage finds.

Thank you Rene for letting me show off your fantastic and very inspiring blog! Hope you all enjoyed Meeting Rene with Cottage & Vine.

Heather

Meet & Greet - Design Manifest

Meet Naomi from the blog Design Manifest.  She is an interior designer in the Philadelphia area. Her blog is her design journal that we luckily get to partake in! She has fantastic taste, using bold colors, with bits of modern, traditional and ethnic flairs.

This is where she blogs...

Bold and Beautiful! No wonder her blog is so chic, blogging in that environment!

I wanted to introduce Design Manifest to you in case you don't already follow because I am always amazed at her DIY projects. Often times I see DIY's and think they look like DIY's! Not Naomi's! Hers look like they are just as expensive as the real deal. There have been two projects in particular that made my jaw drop, but before I share them with you, here are a few photos of her amazing loft.

Pure eye candy, right?!!

OK, now to  Naomi's DIY's.  She took this pine dresser from Ikea.
.

Stained it...

Painted it...

Added hardware...

And Viola!

To see this project step by step and the inexpensive cost breakdown go here.

This next DIY is my all time favorite! If you read my blog at all you know I love campaign furniture and asian art.  Naomi created the perfect piece.

And here is the finished product with two cabinets next to each other...

To see this project step by step go here.

Thank you Naomi for inspiring all your reader's and showing us that design doesn't need to break the bank. Your blog has personally inspired me to tackle projects and think outside the box. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and creativity with us!

XO,
Heather
