Southern Style Stuffed Bell Peppers

Yumm...

This is a family fav' in my house. My family is from New Orleans, so anything I can put a little "Southern" into is good to me. This recipe only takes 30 minutes! Here it goes...

******************************
Ingredients
  • Bell peppers(your fav" color)
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Zaterran's Jambalaya Rice Mix
  • Your favorite smoked sausage(I use Trader Joe's Chicken Andullie)
*******************************************************
Directions

  • Cut the top off bell peppers and clean out the seeds
  • Cut sausage of choice in small pieces and cook in pan until crispy, then put aside
  • Fallow instructions on Zaterran's box for rice
  • When rice is done fold in sausage
  • Spoon in the sausage/rice mix into each bell pepper
  • Cover bell pepper with your favorite cheese (Cheddar for me)
  • Put in the oven at 350 deg. for 10 minutes or until cheese starts to bubble

That's how we do it in the South!

Night Y'all,
Heather

For Sale

These two beauties are taking up space in my house where there is no space to be had! I love them but they just don't have a good home. Maybe you know a good home for them?
Vintage glass wine jug. They can be found for a pretty penny. This guy has his original basket!
Price $40.00 + shipping
Then there is this pretty lady. I love the scroll detail. No chips, just can't find an empty wall. I
just got the clock parts restored so it's a brand new clock in a vintage body.
Price $40.00 + Shipping

Shoot me an email or post a comment if you are interested in either.

Thanks,
Heather

I Have a Crush

On this Guy!

(Nate Berkus)

He really gets me. I find him to be a very refreshing designer. His new show is entertaining with excellent ideas, he has great style and he is easy on the eyes. He is definitely my "go-to" man when it comes to design inspiration. He creates this lived in chic look that makes me drool. He is also fabulous with textiles, using velvets, linens and geometric prints.

What's nice is that he makes his line affordable for us. You can see his line here.

While you are checking his line out, don't skip this cute little guy. A truly perfect piece for any room. I can already see it in my bedroom with books stacked on top.

I will leave you with a few of my favorite rooms Nate has designed over the years...

Heather

If I was a Room...

(Elle Decor)

This room has all my favorite elements! The rustic looking table with a lucite ghost chair. White walls which are my favorite. A wall of collected prints over time in vintage frames, a beautiful gilded pendant, and to top it off fresh flowers which are always, always in my house!
Ahhhhhhh Perfection!
Happy Friday Everyone

What do You Collect?

Collections (n): A set of objects gathered together for interest, personal value or beauty.

I have realized that in my home I have an assortment of collections in my home and not all are gathered together. I noticed that I have a lot of ....

* Blue & White pottery

*Mercury glass

*Decorative bowls

*Orchids

*Vintage books

*Grouping of artwork

* Terra cotta pots

It made me wonder when I started collecting these objects and was I aware I was starting a collection? What about these things made us choose them, or do "they" choose us? It's not like I intentionally was in search for these things like baseball cards and such, they just inspired me. I think what you collect says a lot about you. After examining what I collect I could make the assumption that I am pretty traditional and timeless, with an appreciation for old objects? That is pretty spot on. Here are some photos of other peoples collections. I love all the different ways they chose to display them.

This last picture is from PureStyleHome, one of my favorite blogs! I love the way Lauren grouped her favorite glass pieces.

I guess what is important is filling your home with objects that you love. If you love it, no matter what it is, it will never go out of style.

I would love to know what you collect?

xoxo,

Heather

Lindsay's Kitchen

lindsay's Kitchen

My good buddy Lindsay asked me to help give her kitchen a face lift. I was super flattered because she has an adorable house. I have to say I'm a bit nervous with her giving me full reigns, but super excited! She has a busy family of four and family that comes in town a lot so I have to keep in mind the practicality of this makeover. We are changing everything from the floors to the ceiling. I used Polyvore to help me play around a bit. I already purchased the chandelier which is much prettier in person. The one in the picture is just an example of the shape. The real one is all wood! If you have any helpful input or ideas for me, I'm all ears and eyes.

Texas Turkey Chili & Home galleries

I have been a bit under the weather and decided to make some comfort food. I tried a new recipe and I had to share it with ya'll.
Texas Turkey Chili
(Rachael Ray)
Ingredients
1 bell pepper finely chopped
1 onion finely chopped
1/4 cup tomato paste
Tbsp chili powder
1 Lb. ground turkey
1 14.5 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes
1 bottle of beer
15.5 ounce can of kidney beans
salt & pepper to taste
2 Tbsp olive oil

Directions
Coat your dutch oven or stock pot with olive oil. Add your chopped bell pepper and onion and let cook until onion is transparent. Stir in tomato paste and chili powder. Then add your turkey. Cook until pink is gone then add can of beer, crushed tomatoes and bring to a boil. Then lower heat and let cook for about 10 min. Finally add your kidney beans until heated through and serve!
(I added corn to mine as well and served with corn bread).

I also wanted to share these pictures with you because they have been my inspiration for a project of my own in my kitchen. Pictures to come.

Can you guess what I did?

Heather

Kitchen & Circa Lighting

The day has come...I finally picked a ceiling light for my kitchen!!! Of course it is as expensive as my car payment but you can't put a price on perfection (to me at least). I usually find something I love and then try to find a cheaper item that looks similar, but with this guy, all the "look alikes" didn't have the same character and detail. So.... Drum Roll please........

(Thomas O'Brien globe pendant)

First off I love every hair on Thomas O'Briens head! I think he is a fantastic designer.
His design statement fallows...
"I strive for Retro and industrial styles that meet up with chic glamour and historical elements with sophisticated finishes"
Thomas O'Brien

That sentence is music to my ears! Anywhoos, this is where I saw the fixture for the first time...

Then here...
I found the fixture at Circalighting.com. I have never been to that website before and was blown away by all the beautiful light fixtures! If you haven't guessed by now, I am kind of obsessed with light fixtures. I feel they are so so important in design. You can have a beautifully designed room, then a crummy fixture and it looks unfinished. Light sets the mood for a room. Here are some other fixtures from the website that got me drooling.....

All of these are available here . They will run you between a car payment or even a mortgage payment, but it's great inspiration! Hope you have a great weekend!

Bravo West Elm!

Have you received your Spring West Elm magazine yet? Wowza! There is a ton of eye candy in there that I'm crazy over. Not only is the line great this Spring, but the magazine is a beaut as well. The layout is so clever how they did specific items in groupings such as...all "chairs" together, "tables" together ect. They even have a ruler on the pages helping you with dimensions! What really caught my eye was their support for Etsy. Different pages show staged rooms with objects you can find on Etsy! Here are a few, ok...a TON of my favorite items this Spring...

All of these items can be found on the West Elm website right now or in stores.
P.S. Have you guys noticed how great the blog world is right now! I'm always so inspired by all of you talented ladies. Keep up the awesome blogging!

xoxo,
Heather
