Etsy Artist - Michelle Morin

While browsing on Etsy, I ran across an artist by the name of Michelle Morin.  Her Etsy shop is named United Thread.  Being influence by her love of nature, Michelle creates incredible one of a kind pieces.  I love the scheme of colors she uses and how the pieces are timeless and playful.
To read an interview with Michelle on how and where she gets her inspiration go here.

My Next DIY

When I ran across this photo from South of Market, I knew I had a future DIY on my hands. By the way if you have never visited SOM website, go check it out for some amazing eye candy!
I was super inspired by this graphic vine art.  I love how simple yet bold these two pieces are. I like how they are a modern take of vines. Kind of reminds me of a block print.
Retail price for one print is close to three thousand bucks!  Definitely not in my budget. But to me it looks pretty simple to DIY.
Here is a picture of one whole single piece.

I love the scale of the piece. I would want to frame them in a thin antique gold metal frame. I have two idea's on where these prints would live, but more on that later.
What do you think? Am I biting off more than I can chew for a DIY?

Self Portrait's

via

I have always appreciated self portrait's.  I love how it captures someone in time. I love how simple a portrait is, yet conveys such a statement. I like to guess what era the portrait was painted by how the hair and clothes where styled.  I have run across many portraits in antique stores and even GoodWill, but have never taken one home. These next pictures have inspired me to pick up the next portrait I come across.

Graphic Perfection

Pinterest

I have really been eyeing graphic artwork. I feel like it adds interest to a room without overwhelming the rest of the decor in a room. It brings an eclectic feel to a traditional space which I go for in my own home.
I specifically have been eyeing black and white graphic prints. I have been dreaming of one in a thin gold frame with a gallery light on top. Yummy. I just chose my graphic piece this past week and can't wait to get it up. I'm waiting on the thin gold frame. I will share once I put it up.
In the mean time, here are the photo's that inspired me to add a piece to my own home.

I had to add this last picture. I am loving the size and the red in this graphic print. Talk about a statement!

What do you think of graphic art. Love it or hate it?

Mark Rothko

I am loving Mark Rothko's art right now.  I saw an original of his in L.A. and found myself staring into the block of colors.  Why was I so intrigued by a solid block of color with no people, landscape, or text.....because it let my mind relax and be inspired by color at the same time!  Every one of his paintings reminds me of paint swatches from House Beautiful Magazine.  Do you know what I'm talking about ladies, how the mag showcases paint colors like this.....

House Beautiful

Totally similar right?!  If you know anything about me you know how much I love paint colors and swatches.  One drawer in my entry way dresser is filled with paint swatches with notes written on them, dorky huh?

I  think I want to purchase two of his paintings and put them side by side on an empty wall I have.  I like how his art makes such a statement but still neutral and not busy.

Happy Birthday

Sometimes I wonder what I did to be blessed with such an amazing man? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be "that" woman who makes it seem like her marriage is perfect, but when times are tough I know I picked a man that won't ever stray. When times are great, I know I picked a man who always seems to make them greater, and when I need a friend, I know he shows up with my favorite glass of wine, making me feel like I am the only thing that matters. So today on His birthday, I want him to feel like he is the most important. Happy Birthday Matt Matias. You are loved.
