Love it or Hate it?

I love it! I went GoodWillin' with my friend this weekend and the GoodWill Gods were with us! We both left with a cart full! I didn't buy this lamp because I don't need any more lamps. A fact about myself is that I am obsessed with bowls and lamps. I have way too many of both! So sadly I left this guy behind. I wanted to share it with you though because I thought it was unique. I like the hand blown sea glass with a green tint and the weaving that was used. Then to top it off, there is a strap of old leather at the top, can you see it? With a white linen shade I though it would look chic.  What do y'all think of it.... Love it or Hate it?
By the way, my best friend hated it.  We work because we are opposites and can laugh "at" each other and "with" each other.  She was definitely laughing "at" me here...

Spotted this little guy in GoodWill. My favorite store lately. Sorry for the bad photo, I quickly took it with my phone. Very Mid Century. Reminds me of an accessory you would find on Red's desk in Mad Men.

A New Addition

Can you spot the little bench under the table? Remember when I talked about the fabrics I scored at GoodWill? I had just the project in mind. A small bench I purchased months ago for under 5 bucks. It was in bad shape so I had to sand the wood down and put a fresh coat of stain on it.

Hear is the step by step

First I removed the top of the bench

Second, I removed the old fabric with a screw driver and added new batting to the frame.

Then I wrapped the new fabric, pulling it carefully so it laid smooth. Then stapled it around the edges.

And Viola! A new bench for under 5 bucks.

Heather

A New Mirror & GoodWill Goodies

I have been wanting an art deco sunburst mirror that I feel would complete my living room. And then I think, who am I kidding, I never feel like a room is completed! Anyhew, I found one with great lines that was unique compared to the mass market ones out there. I purchased it from Ballard Designs. You can see the one I picked up and others like it here.

The box was sitting on my doorstep when I got home. I couldn't open it fast enough.
Hi!

This is where it is going to live. What do you think? I have a project for my mantel, but I'll get into that later.

Just when I thought the day couldn't get better, I stopped in GoodWill looking for nothing in particular. As I turned the corner they caught my eye... Tons of designer fabrics from Robert Allen and Beacon Hill! A designer fabric store must have gone out of business and dropped off their inventory at GoodWill.

Most of them had their original price per yard raging from 50-170 bucks, Yikes!
I brought home this Robert Allen modern graphic print for 2.99! I have just the project for the fabric and will show you when I'm done.

Happy Hunting

Good Will Finds

I stopped by my local Good Will the other day looking for some pieces for The Modern Shed. I didn't find any furniture worthy of a makeover, but I did find fun accessories that found a place in my cart.
I love this graphic black/cream pillow. Velvet with a down insert!
(3.99)

Cute wood bowl/tray that I already accessorized with pine cones
(2.99)

Cute owl print with "wise" words in a old wooden frame
(1.00)

Gorgeous porcelain bowl. Will be the home for my keys
(1.99)

Another old book I had to take home. Works of Shakespeare
(2.99)

Cute Ikat basket that I staged with my poinsettia from the Holidays
(.99)

I have really great Goodwill's, Salvation Army's and Thrift Stores around my house that are loaded with fun finds. Makes me sometimes think of starting an online store so you can pick a few of your own treasures?
