Steel Trellis Part II

I liked the results of my first trellis that I shared here, so  I decided to duplicate them in the backyard.  I have two young star jasmine climbers and had them on their original steaks.  After adding the trellis, I already like the width it looks like the jasmine will cover.  I am really "diggin" ( No pun intended)  the contrast of the wood fence with the steel wire.

I can't wait for the jasmine to cover the whole fence!  The smell will be heavenly.

Holiday DIY

Ran across this DIY over at one of my favorite blogs and wanted to share it with you.  Talk about a cheap, fun, easy and beautiful way to add a bit of natural whimsy for the holidays. I plan of making one this weekend.  I went on a walk tonight and gathered some sticks with moss on them! Can't wait. I won't forget to share pictures.

I can't tell you how much I love to be in the garden! After a hard day there is nothing better than pulling some weeds and watering my plants.  I know it might sound crazy, but this is my time that I get to be quiet and think. 

I planted my roses 3 years ago (Iceberg Florabundas) and they have taken off! I also love my Maple tree and how it looks like it is on fire when the sun hits it.  Lastly my rain chain.  You can't live in Portland and not have a rain chain.  It acts as a natural wind chime when it is raining.  Music to my ears.

Garden Time

I was out in the garden yesterday and thought I would snap some shots to let you all see where I spend most of my time in the Summer. Here in Oregon, I only have my sacred little garden for a few months before it goes into hibernation.  If I have a free day, I love to read and blog in my backyard. The sound of the wind chimes and watching the Blue Jay's land in the seed bowl make me so calm. 

This last picture is not a bulldog garden statue, she is the real deal. Any time of the day you can find her sun bathing in the yard. She is too funny!

Garden DIY

I was catching up on Rene's blog and saw this picture. A stacked herb garden. How clever and pleasing to the eye.  This picture is from Martha Stewart. You can see the "how to" guide here.

Here is the start of Rene's herbs. I can just see them cascading over!

Her post totally inspired me for a little gardening project. I like the herb idea, but most die off and don't come back the following year in our climate. I decided I am going to do mine out of succulents!
