Fiddle Leaf Fig

I have been looking for a great indoor year around tree and have been noticing one in particular in tons of magazines and photos. It is called the Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree. I did some research and found out that....

1.They require medium light
2.They do not need a lot of water (over watering will lead to yellow and brown leaves)
3. They are slow growing

I love the large leaves and the skinny trunk. The leaves are a beautiful deep green with very visual veins. It is not over stuffy like a big boxwood and not too casual like an ordinary palm tree. For a traditional yet casual feel this tree could be your best fit!

Here is a picture of where I put my new Fig Tree. I love the way it fills the corner of the room behind my chair!

I'm Back!

I know...I know it has been way to long since my last post. I look at the date of my last entry and it was in January! For those of you who don't know, it has been a rough 6 months. I lost my mother in March from Leukemia. It has been the hardest thing I have ever EVER been through, but with family and God, I am slowly healing. While going through the battle with my mom, the last thing I felt like doing was blogging and talking about decorating and such. After a few months and many friends urging me to start back up, I finally feel ready! I don't even know where to start so I guess I will start with some photos that are dear to my heart before I start talking about all the design ideas I have been dreamin' up. Can't wait to hear from you guys again.

Inspiration for Grannys Mirror

Grannys Junk Became My Treasure!

When we were down in California for the holidays, Matt's Granny asked me if I wanted this old mirror or she was just going to give it to Goodwill! I snatched it up so fast later finding out it has been in the family for almost 150 years +. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Maybe use it in the powder room or make it a chalk board? Any suggestions besides painting it(Its an antique, I can't bring myself to paint it and I like the vintage gold)

Somebody was Spoiled...Me!

I can hardly stand it! My parents got me the whole set of Le Creuset for Christmas! Look how beautiful. I can't wait to cook my first meal. It will be stuffed flank steak with roasted bell peppers,bacon,carmelized onions and cheese! Thank you Mom and Dad for a Christmas present that I will 1. Use on a daily basis 2. Make my husband very happy(I'll be cooking more) 3. A gift I will have for the rest of my life! Love you Mom and Dad!

I found the BEST new food product. It is the new half pretzel, half buttery cracker! They are called Flipsides by Townhouse. They are amazing. They are now a staple in my pantry, complimenting soups, dips, cheese, salami, cream cheese, or by themselves. Try them and you wont be disappointed... and no I'm not getting paid by Townhouse to say this :)
