Salvation Army Original

I found this original oil painting at Salvation Army on one of their 50% off days.  This is my first original piece of art and I find the scene very soothing.  The cost for my first original.... 50 cents!
I love it against my paint in the kitchen (see picture). It is another piece toward my gallery wall in my kitchen. I talked about my gallery kitchen project here.  I am almost done and love how it is turning out. Pictures to come, promise!

Meet and Greet - A Flair for Vintage Decor

Do we have a treat today! I get the pleasure of introducing you to Caroline, from, A Flair for Vintage Decor.  I became a big fan of her blog because it is pure eye candy.  She has a shop in a wonderful antique mall in Tennessee filled with  wonderful treasures for your home.  Before we get started exploring her store and some of my favorite items, take a look at where she blogs.

How bright and chic with a perfect accessory, her Westie, Tuffy. I love the textiles on her bed and the nailhead trim head board.

When shopping for items to decorate her own home in 2007, Caroline noted that she could not find a store locally that combined updated vintage items with new home décor accessories. She loves her inherited pieces and estate sale finds and wanted to create a store that mixed updated vintage pieces with new home décor accessories for today’s style--- and A Flair for Vintage Décor was born!

View from Caroline's Shop

Do you spy anything that you love? I do.

Here are just a few of my favorite items I have spotted lately.

Adorable Wicker Chair

Antler Candle Holders

Amazing Vintage Ceramic Lamp with Gold Shade

Chic Upholstered Settee

Ikat Pillow

Chic Chest with Bamboo detail

See what I mean by eye candy!

I am always amazed by Caroline's eye for good finds.  This past week she posted about these old dresser mirrors she found that most people would walk right by.

Then she posted this picture from Lonny...

Brilliant!

Have fun checking out A Flair For Vintage Decor and if you see anything you want and can't make it to Caroline's store, shipping is available!

Thank you Caroline for letting me show off your fun blog and store.  Your blog is a big part of my daily inspiration! Thanks!

Heather

Flowers

I have been fighting a bad cold the last couple of days and my husband came home with some sunflowers yesterday to cheer me up. Yes ladies, I picked a good one! Anyways, it made me think about flowers and my obsession with them.
I love fresh flowers in a home.  I think plants can make a room come alive.  Not only do flowers/plants add texture, but beautiful color to a space.  While sitting on my couch with my cold medicine and a trash can full of tissues I looked through my photo archives and found some of my favorite rooms with flowers in them.

Mark Rothko

I am loving Mark Rothko's art right now.  I saw an original of his in L.A. and found myself staring into the block of colors.  Why was I so intrigued by a solid block of color with no people, landscape, or text.....because it let my mind relax and be inspired by color at the same time!  Every one of his paintings reminds me of paint swatches from House Beautiful Magazine.  Do you know what I'm talking about ladies, how the mag showcases paint colors like this.....

House Beautiful

Totally similar right?!  If you know anything about me you know how much I love paint colors and swatches.  One drawer in my entry way dresser is filled with paint swatches with notes written on them, dorky huh?

I  think I want to purchase two of his paintings and put them side by side on an empty wall I have.  I like how his art makes such a statement but still neutral and not busy.

Happy Friday,

Meet and Greet - The Industiral Cottage Inc.

Today I have the honor of introducing you to a woman with many hats...Molly with The Industrial Cottage.  She is a busy mother of three, runs her own seamstress business, has an etsy shop, and finds time to be an inspiration to us "God Fearing Women."

This is where Molly lets her creative juices flow...

She calls this space her "Cozy Corner" and I can see why. She likes the light streaming from the windows and enjoys a cup of coffee while she blogs.

*************************************

One of my favorite projects she has done in her home...

Look how clever and super cute her kids beds are.  I love her industrial chic look she goes for in a lot of her rooms. When you go check out her blog, check out the amazing barn doors that are on tracks in her home.  They are fantastic!

Like I said she has an etsy store where she lets her talent shine. Just look at this perfect Cow Hide pillow cover  for sale.  I have been eyeing it for a month now.

Here is a look at another one of her talents... Slipcovers

And last but not least, I love her baby slings. I'm not a mom but they are so cute I wonder if my dog can fit in one?  She just revealed the patterns she will be using this Spring/Summer.

Have fun checking out The Industrial Cottage!

Oh Me...Oh My- West Elm

Got the chance to do a little shopping today at South Coat Plaza! One of the biggest malls in the world and the one I grew up going to.  It just so happens they have the biggest West Elm I have ever seen! So I had to drop some cash ( or at least my Dad did for me heheee).  These are the items I picked up.

(Terra Cotta Lazer Cut Hurricanes)

(Geometric Silk Block Print Pillow)

(  Graphic Print Paisley orangy- red bowls)

(Paisley Block Print Pillow)

If you haven't had the chance to shoot over to West Elm's site, go!  They are previewing their Summer line.

Horns & Vacation

I just picked up this great vintage piece over at High Street Market. I love the wood backing and the green detailing with brass nail heads. I know just where it will go too! Pictures to come. If you haven't heard of Kelly's High Street Market Etsy shop you need to go right NOW! She is an interior designer with an amazing talent for picking out great vintage pieces. She showcases all of them with such beautiful photography.

Wanted to also let you guys know I will be signing off from the blog world for the next week. Matt and I are headed to sunny California for some Vitamin D and R&R. I will be excited to catch up on all your posts when I get home!

Meet & Greet- The Vintique Object

I am super excited this morning to post the first Meet & Greet for my new series. And who better to showcase than a blog I stock on a regular basis! So without further ado... Meet & Greet....

Camille is the writer of The Vintique Object. If you haven't heard or checked out her blog and enjoy design and vintage finds, you are missing out! She showcases many vintage pieces that have been inherited or collected. She also writes about recent projects going on in her adorable home in San Fransisco.

This is were her writing takes place...

Pretty cozy right? Look at all the light coming in from those great windows!

Here is a picture of her dining room. I fell in love with her style when I saw this picture.

Camille has great ideas for breathing life into old items that need to be reinvented like.....

This ordinary clock that wasn't working.

Viola! Now a cute mirror with character! I love to see what she comes up with.

********************************
Here is a picture of a serving tray and bowl she inherited from her Grandmother. These are only two of many pieces she features.

Thanks for allowing me to showcase your inspiring blog and see inside your home Camille.

Heather

House Beautiful & New Series

Have you guys seen the April issue of House Beautiful? If not, go pick it up. The issue showcases some amazing rooms. I was drooling the whole way through it.
******************************************
Just wanted to share some exciting news with ya'll! I'm starting my first series over at My Many Moments. I'm calling it, "Meet & Greet." It will focus on some of my most favorite blogs I go to and follow daily. I started my blog a little over a year ago and have been so inspired by some of the most artistic, interesting, and inspiring women. I feel like even though they have other followers, they are all my "little secrets" when it comes to design and inspiration. I decided I wanted all of you to not only know about them, but see where they blog.

Each week I will have the honor of showcasing a blog I heart and let you inside what I find unique about each one. Often times while reading blogs I wonder where the writers creativity takes place. Don't you ever wonder where others sit and blog?
Hope you enjoy this series and get to know some inspiring women along the way.

Let me know if you are interested in being featured for this series. I would love to hear from you.

P.S. The last couple of weeks I have noticed I have a few new followers. Trust me, you don't go unnoticed, and I'm thankful for each and every one of you.

XO,
Heather

Words from the Wise

Meet Lauren Liess. She is by far one of my most favorite designers. Her style is truly exquisite. She is the first blog I go to in the morning for inspiration. I wanted to share about her specifically today because Lauren's post this morning was a very important and educational one. I think it is one all my readers should read. So, after looking at these photos of her amazing home, click on the the link to read some words from a wise woman, Lauren.
