Grandfather DIY

Wanted to show you guys a quick little before and after. Found this grandfather clock on craigslist for 40 bucks.  Sorry for the bad craigslist picture.

Here it is now.  After some staining, painting, spray painting the pendulum, and sanding.  I'm really happy with it.

Pretty easy too...

  1. Sanded the clock down
  2. Stained it with a ebony stain
  3. Painted a coat of creamy goodness
  4. Sanded again
  5. Painted another coat
  6. Distressed it by sanding
  7. Spray painted the chains and pendulum black
  8. Stepped back and got excited!
Don't forget to stop by tomorrow to "Meet & Greet" a Special lady and her fellow.  If you are a mama or a papa you won't want to miss this one!
xo,
Heather

  8. I found a Grandfather clock at the thrift store today. I asked my husband to go back and get it for me tomorrow for our anniversary. I want to paint it RED! When I looked online for grandfather clock makeovers, yours was the first one that I found. Thanks for the tutorial. I am even more excited about bringing the clock home!

  10. WOW! That is awesome...You've probably saved yourself at least $1500 if not more, but frankly who cares about the money the clock is magazine worthy. I will definitely be borrowing this idea if I ever get the chance.

  11. I'm so AMAZED! my mother in law just Gave me this very clock. I really didn't want it but didn't wanna hurt her feelings. So I started thinking of ways to make it "me" so I created a pinterest Acct to look for ideas. And was amazed when I saw yours BC its just what I pictured in my head for mine to look like when I was done. Kindred spirits... yours looks great and I can only hope mine turns out as good.
