Front Door Sprusing

I decided I was over my red front door.  I felt the red door with the box wood and wooden star was leaning towards country. There is nothing wrong with a country look, it's just not my cup of tea.  I wanted to change up the entrance area on a budget, adding a bit more of a modern/traditional feel.
Can't wait to hear what you all think?!

I used an oil based black paint for a gloss look.  I even painted the door frame.  The husband wasn't sure about painting the frame, but afterwards he loved it.  When will he start trusting me?!  I bought the lion knocker off Ebay for 25 bucks.  I love how masculine he looks! The tall white pot is from Ikea. It put me back 12 bucks.  I filled it with succulents and evergreens that will shortly be crawling down the pot.  I get so excited pulling up to our house!

Happy Monday!

  1. Love it!!! We are looking to do something very similar. I am waiting on choosing the lanterns first before I decide on the paint color...but glossy black with gold touches is what I am leaning towards! Great job! Take care, Caroline

  2. Finally we get to see the door! I have been waiting weeks! It looks amazing! I love the high gloss and the pot of succulents are a perfect touch!

  3. Heather, it looks amazing! Love the glossy black (our front door is too!) and love the lion door knocker. Great job!

  4. From one change to the next, Heather, your house is taking on such a sophisticated, stylish feel. As you know, I adore the black, and the knocker is just the perfect, perfect touch!

  5. Love the succulents! Everything looks great.

  6. Oh, it looks very classic and regal now! Great job.

  7. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the update. The crisp black, gold lion and succulents. YES! So you want to come redo my front door? Our damn rental has a tragic hummingbird doorbell.
