Potato Block Printing DIY

Kelly Weastler : Sea Urchin

This is how it all started.  I saw this Kelly Weastler fabric and fell in love.  It is the perfect balance of masculine/modern.  It almost acts like a neutral behind other prints.  Anyways... I loved it, but not for $100/ yard.  I don't know how my mind went from Kelly Weastler fabric to....

Let me explain.  I love block print fabrics and the above fabric reminded me of a block print.  I decided to try to make my own stamp out of a potato mimicking the sea urchin design.  This is what I came up with after ruining 3 potatoes.

Now I was getting somewhere. I picked up some RIT fabric dye and 1 yard of white linen for 6 bucks.

I started stamping...

And stamping....

Make sure to stop by Monday to see what I did with my potato fabric.  I am giddy with the turnout!

Be Well,
Heather

  1. This looks incredible!! I also tried a Kelly Wearstler DIY tonight, which didn't not go so well. It ended up in the trash.

You should do a giveaway. I'd invent fictitious blogs just to get extra entries for this one. ;)
