I have always been drawn to the look of small object's above bed's. As you know I like to play with scale in design and going big is not always the answer. Using a small object on a large wall can make a big impact. Using a small object above a bed creates a light feeling and also brings the eye up instead of a heavy piece of art possibly weighing the room down. I like the simplicity of this idea.

This last picture is an older picture of our bedroom. Sorry it is so grainy but I wanted to point out the small little brass plate above our bed. Not the same effect of the professional design photo's but I do like it.
What do you think about this look? Do you like the idea of using small scale to create an impact?

ReplyDeleteYay! I knew there was a reason that I put a dinky little plate above our massive king bed. David thought it was too small, but I left it cause I liked it. (love how wives win out on this stuff:) I didn't have a good reason to give at the time, but now I do! Thanks! :)

Huh, I've never given much thought to this, but now that you point it out, it only makes sense that the bed, not the art above has the most visual presence. I also have to say that living in the Bay Area, it would be scary to have huge piece of art above the bed -- particularly one with glass!
