I am a classic girl by heart. I love Audry Hepburn, tweed, stripes, orchids, To Kill A Mockingbird and pencil skirts. Over the years a bit of Modernism has seeped into my blood appreciating metals, bold patterns and uncluttered spaces. Through design blogs, magazines, pinterest and trial and error, I have been able to hone in on my personal design style. Even thought I appreciate many other styles of design I go back to a classically modern feel.  It's what feels right to me.  Here are some amazing spaces that fit the bill for Classically Modern design.

Coffee Table Styling

The inspiration for this post hit me between the eyes. I was watching T.V. the other night with my feet up on my bare coffee table/trunk.  I started to get annoyed at how bare it was. Then I thought, "Why haven't I EVER had anything on my coffee table?"  I decided to go shopping...in my home.  You can't beat free. This is what I came up with.

Step 1: Blank Slate

Step 2: Add Art Books

Step 3: Add Greenery

Step 4: Add Bone Vase

Step 5: Add Bone Inlayed Box for T.V. Remote

Step 6: Add Glass Hurricane with Candle

Viola!



To be realistic, I will only keep the books, magnolia leaves and hurricane so we will actually have a place to put our feet and ice cream bowls ;)

Pantry Gets a New Look

I promised I would share my Pantry organization mission with you, so here is the before picture again in case you forgot how horrible it was.

Big sigh here! I come down stairs now and get excited to open my pantry.  Silly I know, but it is the small things in life ladies!

I even have room to spare.  I decided to go with a basket system.  Each basket has a specific need.

Smaller Baskets:
1. Pasta items
2. All box items i.e. mac n cheese, rice mixes ect.
3. Every day items. Our oats, nuts, raisins, coffee
4. Snacks. Chips, bars, Graham crackers ect. If the basket is full we can't buy any extra snacks. This will be good for our waist line.

Big Baskets:
1. Paper products. Foil, parchment, napkins, plastic cups, paper plates and straws
2. Tupperware
3. Baking supplies and ingredients

My Ugly Secret

I'm embarrassed to even share this picture of my pantry with you.  It has never looked this bad, but after the Holiday cooking craze, it is anything but organized.  My poor husband couldn't even find his oatmeal this morning.  As I was staring at this mess, I decided I need to fix this once and for all. You see, it seems like every year it gets to this point. Reason: No organization.  That is about to change my friends.  I will reveal the new and improved pantry situation on Monday.  Oh, and sorry to leave you with this image for the whole weekend.

On My Mind

My mind has been all over the place lately.  Thoughts of a nursery, the launch of Stella & Dot's Spring line, projects going on around the house and restoring a few pieces of furniture....yeesh!  My mind needs to get organized.
